Welcome, busy DPO!
If you're on this page, it means you've been given an exclusive first chance to sign up as a Founding Member of the DPO Hub.
Imagine getting that chance when IAPP was founded...
So far, passionate folks from 28 countries have joined:

Why do you need a DPO Hub? The DPO battle
My aim is to create a single place for busy DPOs and solo consultants to get all key GDPR updates and have a repository of significant cases.
Because there's no shortage of updates. CJEU rulings. EDPB Guidelines. DPA decisions.
On the contrary: we face an ever-growing avalanche of information. How do we keep up to date with it all..? While still enjoying regular life.
Newsletters. Subscriptions. Books. Memberships. Events. Webinars. Podcasts.
But newsletters go unread. Webinars unattended. (I'll be the first to admit: I never find time to watch that recording either.)
Try to keep up on LinkedIn, only to despair over the feed that spontaneously refreshes at the worst times. The post you were reading or comment you were writing? Gone.
Even if you, like Amalia B., have literally saved your posts for like 2 years, it's impossible to retrieve anything from the LinkedIn save list. 😩
You might not be overwhelmed, though. Some people plough through all new updates and have CJEU rulings for breakfast. 🔥 But if you're a DPO, you're certainly busy.
And you might still want that quick, no BS summary. A different perspective. Pragmatic and business-oriented recommendations on how to actually deal with rulings, decisions, and guidelines at a hands-on, practical level.
👉 If you like this post, you'll like the DPO Hub.
Our field is a challenging one and our community is often fighting an uphill battle. DPOs tend to be unappreciated and have too few resources to be able to perform our tasks sufficiently.
Acting as an external DPO for years, I'm well familiar with the struggles: the mounting stress of being bombarded with updates, the anxiety of missing something crucial, and the sheer exhaustion of sifting through dozens of sources daily.
And it's not just about getting updates, but getting the right ones.
THIS is why I've created the DPO Hub. To help DPOs keep up to date and easily retrieve those key updates.
You can become one of only 250 Founding Members
This is a one-time offer for only 250 people, who together will be The Founding Members of DPO Hub.
First, you get a heavily discounted price of 29%.
But not only that: A Founding Member pays the same, low price - forever. It'll never increase.
🏗️ It's my way of saying thanks for supporting me while I (still) build this first version, accepting it'll be work-in-progress for a while longer.
You'll receive a a little welcome gift and, not least, be the first to know when that community (hopefully) launches.
PS: I'm also sharing my PKM/Obsidian/Readwise and productivity journey with Founding Members.
What is the DPO Hub, exactly?
The DPO Hub is your dedicated online portal where I share handpicked critical alerts, important news and intriguing insights mainly related to the GDPR, with facts and links to official resources.
Importantly, you get my (sometimes grumpy) analysis, key take-aways and pragmatic and practical recommendations ("tasks to tackle") for you as DPO.
Think of it as my LinkedIn feed, just supercharged and organised. 🔥
For a sneak peek, check out this post.
After logging in, you'll see a feed with various updates from (and my take on) CJEU and court rulings, as well as decisions, guidelines and relevant information from the EDPB, DPAs and the European Commission.
Find all (most recent versions of) EDPB Guidelines, Recommendation and Art. 65 Binding Decisions. No more endless circular navigation on their website or relying on the Public Consultation one...
You won't miss a thing as I'll send you weekly summaries and critical alerts immediately - that you can read directly in your inbox.
🔎 Finally, the powerful search engine is ready to help you quickly find or retrieve content.
Why a paid subscription?
Think of it as crowd-funding me as your personal Chief of GDPR Updates. ✍️
The rate was intentionally set low to let as many people as possible join.
I'll still post (free updates) on LinkedIn, but going forward the DPO Hub is my first priority. DPO Hub members are my first priority.
My dream is to do less consulting and more curating, reading, analysing, distilling and sharing key insights from our field.
To do that, I must ensure a profitable, stable and sustainable business. My hope is that the DPO Hub will be the foundation for this.
Working as a solo consultant for years, I know how lonely and challenging it can be to try to stay up to date while delivering external DPO services. With the DPO Hub, you get someone on your side, taking at least one thing off your mind.
Is it worth it?
Let's put it to the test.
⏰ How many hours do you pour into weekly updates? Searching for the latest GDPR news, endlessly scrolling through LinkedIn, or visiting the profiles of regular publishers in hopes of catching new insights?
And let's not even mention those unread newsletters piling up in your inbox...
If the DPO Hub can reclaim just one of those hours for you, it's already paid for itself.
Give it a go for a month and see for yourself. Just keep in mind that I'm still working on the first version (still as a one-woman show), so thanks for bearing with me!
Your boss should pay for the subscription
Most members get the subscription covered by their employer. (Especially when you say that it's normally €576/year but only €409 now for Founding Members. 💰)
Your boss likely wants to spend as little on compliance as possible – not a cent more. And they want to be compliant enough.
They also don’t want to be bothered more than necessary with “GDPR-stuff”...
With that challenging background, how do you get them on your side? 🤔
You could start with two personal favorites of mine: There’s no such thing as 100% compliance. And: You can never remove all risks.
This sets the tone and your boss will probably nod in agreement.
Despite the above, though, your boss is also worried about audits/inspections from a data protection authority. 🧐
Nobody wants that – or a fine 💸, or any risk of reputational damage due to poor privacy and data protection practices.
They’ll also perk up if you talk about such practices as a competitive advantage. If you’re in SaaS, for example, flying through a due diligence will guaranteed land more customers than a process raising red flags early on.
Your boss might point out that you already have a GDPR-related subscription. It might cost quite a bit and your boss might raise an eyebrow as to why you’d need another one.
This is where you pitch two key ‘features’ of the DPO Hub:
1️⃣ The mantra of the DPO Hub is less is more. It’s a goal in itself to minimise the time you spend on it. Why? So that you can spend more time in and on the business, on actual, hands-on compliance stuff.
Talking to your collegues. Raising awareness. Taking those complex challenges heads-on. Being a problem-solver, tackling the highest-risk items.
Reducing company and compliance risks. (Of course risks to data subjects too, but I’m guessing your boss will pay more attention to the these.)
2️⃣ Rie’s facts-based, pragmatic and business-oriented perspectives, as well as hands-on, practical recommendations on how to deal with a CJEU ruling, DPA decision or EDPB guideline.
You won’t get this any other place. Rie also doesn’t represent a US-based corporation profiting on EU-born laws.
Finally, while it’s still possible, you can join as a Founding Member on a heavily discounted rate that’ll never increase!
“Smi mens jernet er varmt”, as we say in Norway (let me know what your equivalent is!).
It might also help to mention that you’ll be joining a community with many prominent professionals, including representatives from several data protection authorities.
We're building something significant here. In Europe. By Europe.
PS: Reach out on LinkedIn if you're struggling to convince your employer.
But I have IAPP/Nymity/DataGuidance... 🇺🇸
The DPO Hub doesn't necessarily compete with or replace a GDPR-related service you already have.
But you might prefer curated news provided by a DPO based in and from Europe (🇳🇴👋), without commercial affiliations to big corporations in the US.
I focus on delivering concise, pragmatic insights and actionable recommendations. My aim is to streamline your information flow, ensuring you receive the most pertinent updates without the clutter of broader services - and with a distinctly European viewpoint. 🇪🇺
